Instructions:
- Prepare the Mint
Place 25 g (1 cup) fresh mint leaves in a teapot, bowl, or large heatproof mug. - Add Boiling Water
Pour 720 ml (3 cups) boiling water over the mint leaves. Stir gently to ensure all the leaves are fully submerged. - Steep the Tea
Cover and let the mint steep for 5 minutes for a lighter flavor or up to 10 minutes for a stronger taste. - Strain the Leaves
Pour the tea through a fine mesh strainer into cups, removing all the mint leaves. - Sweeten and Serve
Add maple syrup, a squeeze of lemon, or sugar to taste if desired. Serve hot immediately.
Notes:
Use fresh mint — dried mint produces a significantly flatter cup. Don’t use boiling water; aim for 80°C / 175°F to avoid bitterness.
Tips:
Gently bruise the mint leaves before steeping to release more essential oils.
Storage:
Best consumed immediately. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 1 day and serve over ice.
Swaps:
Spearmint can be replaced with lemon verbena, lemongrass, or mint and fresh ginger.
