The whole world could still be fed. Why? It takes between 4 and 12 pounds of grain or soy to produce a single pound of meat, dairy, or eggs. So animal agriculture is like a protein factory in reverse. Meat and dairy provide just 18% of the world's calories but use up 83% of the world's agricultural land and produce 60% of the agriculture industry's greenhouse gas emissions.
