Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- 300 g (2 1/2 cups) whole wheat flour or oat flour
- 122.5 g (1/2 cup) canned pure pumpkin puree
- 129 g (1/2 cup) natural peanut butter
- 30 g (2) flax eggs
- 22.5 g (1/4 cup) rolled oats

Features:
Soy-Free
Oil-Free
Refined Sugar-Free
Double-check that your peanut butter is 100% xylitol-free before using it — xylitol is toxic to dogs, and some "natural" or reduced-sugar peanut butters contain it. Use plain canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, which contains added sugar and spices.
Instructions:
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and flax eggs until smooth.
- Add the Dry Ingredients: Add the flour and oats, and stir until a stiff dough forms. Knead briefly with your hands if needed to bring it together.
- Roll Out the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut & Arrange: Cut into shapes with a cookie cutter, or simply cut into small squares with a knife. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, until firm and lightly golden. For extra-crunchy treats, turn off the oven and let them sit inside for another 30-60 minutes to dry out further.
- Cool: Cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.
Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or refrigerate for up to 3 weeks. Freeze for up to 3 months.
Tip: Letting the treats sit in the turned-off oven after baking dries them out further for a crunchier texture that keeps longer.
Swap: Swap peanut butter for plain pumpkin puree only if your dog has a peanut allergy, adding a bit more if the dough seems dry.
Important: Always confirm ingredients are safe for dogs, avoid xylitol entirely, and check with your vet if your dog has any health conditions before introducing new treats.
Pumpkin puree is gentle on a dog's digestion and adds natural sweetness without added sugar. Peanut butter (xylitol-free) makes these treats irresistible to most dogs, while oats and whole wheat flour give the dough enough structure to hold its shape and bake up firm.
