Instructions:
- Prepare the Raspberry Mixture: In a small bowl, mash the raspberries with a fork or use a blender to blend them into a puree. If you prefer a smoother drink, strain the puree to remove the seeds.
- Sweeten and Add Flavor: Add maple syrup and fresh lemon juice to the mashed raspberries. Stir well to combine and dissolve the syrup.
- Combine with Sparkling Water: Pour the raspberry mixture into a glass. Add sparkling water and stir gently. You can adjust the ratio of sparkling water to raspberry mixture depending on how strong you want the flavor to be.
- Serve: Fill the glass with ice if you prefer your soda chilled, and garnish with a few fresh raspberries or a lemon slice.
Tips:
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup.
- For a more intense raspberry flavor, use frozen raspberries as they tend to release more juice.
- Add a few mint leaves or a splash of lime for a fun twist!
Notes:
Let the raspberry syrup cool completely before adding sparkling water — warm syrup will cause the carbonation to fizz out violently.
Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove all seeds for the smoothest result.
Tips:
Make a large batch of raspberry syrup and refrigerate it for up to 2 weeks. Mix to order for fresh soda anytime.
Storage:
The raspberry syrup keeps refrigerated in a sealed jar for up to 2 weeks. Assembled soda is best consumed immediately.
Swaps:
Raspberries can be swapped for strawberries, blackberries, or blueberries. Sparkling water can be replaced with tonic water for a slightly bitter note.
